Details

The Boeing 727 is the three-engined, T-tailed short-to-medium-haul jet built on the 707's fuselage cross-section. Its triple-slotted flaps and leading-edge devices let it work runways the 707 could not, and a gravel-runway kit was offered for the -100 and -100C to take it into unpaved fields. The family runs from the 727-100 through the stretched 727-200 to the Advanced 727-200, which added thrust, weight and fuel. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the B722 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants. Cabin width and height are Boeing's own, from Boeing D6-58324, 727 Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning, section 2.5, page 19: interior trim to trim 140 in (356 cm), 86.3 in (219 cm) floor to ceiling.
