Dornier Do 28
Dornier/Fairchild Dornier

Details
The Dornier Do 28 is the short-field twin that the Do 228 and Do 328 grew out of, and the aeroplane the name Skyservant belongs to. Its engines sit on stub pylons either side of the nose rather than on the wing, which is why it looks wrong and works well: the propellers blow straight down the fuselage and the undercarriage can be short and strong. The certificate runs to eight variants sharing one 15.55 m wing, from the 2,450 kg piston A-1 to the 4,350 kg turboprop Dornier 128-6. The cruise speed, range, ceiling and climb rate are EUROCONTROL's figures for the D28D type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
