Details

The Dornier 228 is the unpressurised twin built around a wing Dornier designed for short, rough strips, which is why it ended up flying island services, maritime patrol and survey work rather than scheduled commuter routes. Its certificate runs to six models in two fuselage lengths, from the 5,700 kg 228-100 to the 6,400 kg 228-212. The cruise speed, range, ceiling, climb rate and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the D228 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
