About

The Viking DHC-6-400 Twin Otter (Series 400) marks the resumption of Twin Otter production after a 22-year hiatus. First delivered in 2010 by Viking Air (now De Havilland Canada), the Series 400 brings the classic Twin Otter into the 21st century. It features fully integrated Honeywell Primus Apex avionics with a glass cockpit, modernized lighting and electronics, and selective use of composite materials for weight reduction. Powered by 750-shp PT6A-34 engines flat-rated to 620 hp, the Series 400 maintains the legendary STOL capability, needing only 1,200 feet to reach 50 feet AGL on takeoff and 1,050 feet to land. Accommodating up to 19 passengers and easily reconfigurable for cargo or mixed operations, the Series 400 serves the same diverse missions as its predecessors while offering improved reliability, reduced maintenance, and modern systems. The success of the Series 400 demonstrates the enduring value of the Twin Otter design.
