About

The TriStar 500 is the long-range one: fourteen feet shorter than the other TriStars, carrying 213,640 lb of fuel against their 159,560, and seating 315 rather than 400. British Airways and Pan Am flew it on thin long-haul routes the full-length aeroplane could not reach. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate, wingspan, length, height and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the L101 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
