About

The original TriStar, certified in April 1972 on three Rolls-Royce RB211-22B engines and built for domestic trunk routes. The type certificate approves it as high as 510,000 lb take-off weight once modified under Service Bulletin 093-51-023, though most were delivered far lighter, and it seats up to 400 with four Type A doors a side. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate, wingspan, length, height and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the L101 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
