About
The Embraer E190-E2 is the first member of the E-Jet E2 family to enter service, representing a significant evolution of the original E190. First flown on May 23, 2016, and entering service with Norwegian regional carrier Widerøe on April 24, 2018, the E190-E2 features Pratt & Whitney PW1900G geared turbofan engines delivering 22,000 lbf of thrust each. The aircraft maintains the same 36.24-meter fuselage length as the original E190 but incorporates major improvements including a new wing with the highest aspect ratio (11:1) of any commercial airliner, increasing wingspan to 33.72 meters. This advanced wing design, combined with the efficient GTF engines, delivers significant performance improvements: 17.3% better fuel efficiency, 16% lower maintenance costs, and 65% noise reduction compared to the first-generation E190. The E190-E2 offers maximum range of 2,950 nautical miles (5,463 km) with a full passenger load and can reach Mach 0.82 cruise speed at a service ceiling of 41,000 feet. The aircraft typically seats 97 passengers in a two-class configuration (up to 114 maximum) with the distinctive 2+2 seating eliminating middle seats. Other passenger amenities include 90% more baggage capacity, HEPA air filtration refreshing air 20+ times hourly, Wi-Fi, and modern in-flight entertainment. The E190-E2 is marketed as part of "The Profit Hunter" family for its exceptional economics.
