About
The Embraer E175-E2 is the smallest member of the E-Jet E2 family, designed to seat 80-90 passengers with improved fuel efficiency and passenger comfort compared to the original E175. The E175-E2 features Pratt & Whitney PW1700G geared turbofan engines, fourth-generation fly-by-wire controls, and advanced aerodynamics with high aspect ratio wings. However, in February 2022, Embraer announced that development of the E175-E2 would be halted for at least three years, with deliveries now expected to begin between 2027 and 2028. This decision was driven by lack of demand, particularly in the U.S. market where scope clauses at major airlines restrict regional carriers to operating aircraft with maximum takeoff weights below the E175-E2's specifications. The existing original E175 continues to meet U.S. scope clause requirements and remains in high demand and production. When eventually produced, the E175-E2 will offer significantly better fuel efficiency, lower emissions, reduced noise, and improved passenger amenities including the signature E2 2+2 seating configuration, increased baggage space, and HEPA filtration. The aircraft shares commonality with the E190-E2 and E195-E2, facilitating fleet flexibility for operators.
