About

The DHC-6-300 Twin Otter is the most produced and successful variant of the Twin Otter family. Introduced in 1969 beginning with serial number 231, the Series 300 featured more powerful PT6A-27 engines (680 hp flat-rated to 620 hp) that significantly improved both aircraft performance and payload capability. The enhanced power allowed for better hot-and-high performance and increased useful load. Seating 20 passengers (one more than earlier variants), the Series 300 became the definitive Twin Otter, combining proven reliability with improved capability. It excelled in bush operations, commuter services, skydiving, and cargo transport. The Series 300 could operate with wheels, floats, or skis, making it incredibly versatile. Production continued until 1988, with 614 Series 300s built, making it by far the most successful variant. The Series 300 established the Twin Otter as a global icon of utility aviation.
