About
The DHC-6-200 Twin Otter is an improved variant of the Series 100 featuring an extended nose for extra baggage storage and a larger rear baggage door. Production began in 1968 (serial numbers 116-230) and it used the same PT6A-20 turboprop engines as its predecessor. The extended nose improved the aircraft's baggage capacity and enhanced its utility for passenger and cargo operations. The Series 200 maintained the excellent STOL performance and operational versatility of the 100 series while offering improved practicality for commercial operators. Popular with regional carriers and bush operators, the Series 200 served reliably in some of the world's most challenging environments. A total of 115 Series 200s were produced before being succeeded by the more powerful Series 300 in 1969.
