The Boeing 787 Dreamliner revolutionized commercial aviation with its extensive use of composite materials (approximately 50% of the airframe), making it lighter and more fuel-efficient than conventional aluminum aircraft. Launched in 2011, the 787 features larger windows, higher cabin humidity, lower cabin altitude (6,000 ft vs typical 8,000 ft), smoother ride, and quieter engines for exceptional passenger comfort. The family includes three variants: 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10. With 20% better fuel efficiency than comparable aircraft and 787-9 range of 7,635 nautical miles, the Dreamliner opened new non-stop routes worldwide. Over 1,170 aircraft have been delivered to 90+ customers, with 2,250+ total orders. Production continues at approximately 7-10 aircraft per month as of 2026.
