Boeing 720B
Boeing Commercial Airplanes

About
The 720B is the 720 with JT3D fan engines, slightly more fuel, a wider tail, a marginally longer body and a higher gross weight. Boeing records the fans as producing a marked improvement in maximum payload, take-off field length and design range: the structural payload rises from 12,710 kg to 18,610 kg on 2,300 kg more ramp weight. Many were built for overseas routes rather than the domestic ones the 720 was drawn for. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the B720 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants. Cabin width and height are Boeing's own, from Boeing D6-58323, 720/720B Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning, section 2.5, page 11: interior trim to trim 140.0 in (355.6 cm), 86.3 in (219.2 cm) floor to ceiling.
