Boeing 720 Original
Boeing Commercial Airplanes

About
The first 720, on non-fan JT3C turbojets. Its 12,710 kg structural payload is the lowest of the whole 707 line — the aeroplane was built light for short domestic sectors rather than to carry a load. Both 720 models seat 149 as standard and 156 with the option of two extra Type III emergency exits, which is the certified maximum this row carries. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the B720 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants. Cabin width and height are Boeing's own, from Boeing D6-58323, 720/720B Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning, section 2.5, page 11: interior trim to trim 140.0 in (355.6 cm), 86.3 in (219.2 cm) floor to ceiling.
