British Aircraft Corporation

The BAC One-Eleven (also known as the BAC 1-11) is a British short-range jet airliner featuring a distinctive rear-mounted engine configuration and T-tail. Developed by British Aircraft Corporation in the early 1960s, it was designed to provide economical jet service on short and medium-haul routes. First flown in 1963, the One-Eleven became one of the most successful British jet airliners, competing with the Douglas DC-9 and Boeing 737-100. The family includes four main variants: Series 200, 300, 400, and the stretched Series 500, seating from 65 to 119 passengers. Known for its reliability and good performance, the One-Eleven served airlines worldwide for over four decades. A total of 244 aircraft were built between 1963 and 1982, with production continuing in Romania as the Rombac 1-11.
