ATR 42-300

The ATR 42-300 is an improved variant of the original ATR 42-200, introduced in 1988. It features uprated Pratt & Whitney Canada PW120 turboprop engines producing 1,800 shp each, compared to the 1,600 shp PW120s on the -200. The -300 also introduced a modernized flight deck and improved systems. Typically configured for 42-50 passengers in a comfortable 2-2 seating arrangement, the ATR 42-300 offers excellent fuel efficiency and reliability on short-haul regional routes. The high-wing configuration provides good visibility for passengers and excellent short-field performance. The ATR 42-300 became the baseline variant for the family's success, with its combination of operating economics and passenger comfort proving popular with regional carriers worldwide. Many ATR 42-300s remain in active service, particularly in developing markets and island operations.
