The Airbus A330-900 is the larger and more successful variant of the A330neo family, designed to replace the popular A330-300. Making its first flight on October 19, 2017, it entered commercial service with TAP Air Portugal in December 2018. The A330-900 seats 287 passengers in a typical three-class layout (up to 460 maximum) and can fly 13,610 km (7,350 nmi). As of 2025, 164 aircraft have been delivered with over 450 orders, making it significantly more successful than the A330-800. The type has gained traction with airlines seeking modern widebody efficiency without the higher costs of composite aircraft like the A350 or 787.
