The Airbus A330-800 is the smaller variant of the A330neo family, designed to replace the A330-200. First flying on November 6, 2018, it entered service with Kuwait Airways in October 2020. The A330-800 can carry 257 passengers in a typical configuration (up to 406 maximum) over a range of 15,000 km (8,100 nmi), making it capable of ultra-long-haul routes. Despite its impressive specifications and 25% better fuel efficiency than comparable aircraft, the A330-800 has struggled commercially with only 13 delivered as of 2025. Airlines have largely preferred the larger A330-900 or opted for the more advanced composite A350-900 instead.
