The Airbus A330-200 is a shortened, longer-range variant of the A330-300 that first flew on August 13, 1997, and entered service with Canada 3000 in April 1998. Designed to compete with the Boeing 767-300ER on long-haul routes, the A330-200 sacrifices some passenger capacity for increased range, capable of flying up to 13,450 km (7,250 nmi). The aircraft was developed by removing four fuselage frames (5.61 meters) while adding extra fuel capacity. With 656 aircraft delivered, it became particularly popular with airlines for transoceanic routes. The A330-200 also serves as the basis for the A330 MRTT military tanker. Production ended in 2024.
