Airbus SAS

The Airbus A319 is a shortened-fuselage variant of the Airbus A320, entering service in April 1996 with Swissair. Seating 124 to 156 passengers, the A319 was developed at the request of ILFC CEO Steven Udvar-Hazy to compete with the Boeing 737-700. Manufactured exclusively in Hamburg, Germany from 1994 to 2021, the A319 has been a commercial success with over 1,500 aircraft delivered. It shares 95% commonality with other A320 family members, offering airlines operational flexibility and reduced training costs. The aircraft has found favor with both traditional airlines and low-cost carriers, while also serving as the basis for the popular ACJ319 corporate jet.
