About

The Saab 2000 is the 340 stretched by 7.6 m and re-engined with Rolls-Royce AE2100s, built to fly as fast as a regional jet on a third of the fuel: 53 seats, 22,999 kg, and a cruise nobody else in its class matched. It arrived in 1994, straight into the regional-jet boom, and 63 were built. Its masses are certified twice, and the set before the increased-fuel modification is the heavier one. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, ceiling, climb rate and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the SB20 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
