Ilyushin Il-96T

Ilyushin Aviation Complex

About

The freighter Il-96 with American engines and avionics — four Pratt & Whitney PW2337s in place of the PS-90A — built as a joint venture that was meant to sell the aeroplane abroad and produced two aircraft instead. Its Interstate Aviation Committee type certificate СТ152-Ил-96Т is unusual in printing every mass twice, in pounds and in kilograms: a maximum take-off mass of 592,240 lb (270,000 kg), a maximum ramp mass of 597,440 lb (271,000 kg), a maximum landing mass of 485,000 lb (220,000 kg), a maximum zero-fuel mass of 459,430 lb (208,400 kg) and a maximum payload of 202,820 lb (92,000 kg). It is certificated to 43,000 ft (13,100 m) at a maximum operating Mach of 0.84, flown by two pilots, with up to five cabin crew. The type was later redeveloped with Russian engines as the Il-96-400T.
