About

A four-engined short-take-off airliner quiet enough to work from city-centre airports — it is the aeroplane London City was designed around. Four engines made it expensive to run, and the twin-engined Dash 8 replaced it. No type certificate for it is reachable — the FAA's regulatory system is closed to us and EASA never held the type — so this entry carries its history and the 28.35 m span and 24.54 m length the FAA publishes for airport design, but none of the certified weights the rest of the library is built on. The cruise speed, range, ceiling, climb rate, height, maximum take-off weight and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the DHC7 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
