About
The BAe 146-300 is the longest variant of the original BAe 146 series, featuring a further fuselage stretch to accommodate 100-128 passengers. First flown in 1987, the -300 offered the best seat-mile economics of the BAe 146 family while retaining the type's signature quiet operation and short-field capabilities. Despite being nearly 31 meters long, it maintained excellent performance on short runways and at airports with noise restrictions. The four ALF 502R-5 turbofans provided reliable power for operations in challenging conditions. The 146-300 served as the basis for the later Avro RJ100. Production transitioned to the RJ series in the early 1990s.
