About
The BAe 146-100 is the original and shortest variant of the BAe 146 family. First flown in 1981 and entering service in 1983 with Dan-Air, it was designed to seat 70-94 passengers depending on configuration. Powered by four Textron Lycoming ALF 502R-3 or ALF 502R-5 turbofans, the 146-100 could operate from short runways and airports with restrictive noise requirements. Its high-wing design with engines mounted under the wings provided excellent short-field performance. The aircraft found success with regional carriers and operators serving airports with challenging approaches. Known for its reliability and quiet operation, the 146-100 established the foundation for the successful BAe 146 family.
