The Boeing 747-200 was an improved version of the original 747-100 with more powerful engines, increased fuel capacity, and greater maximum takeoff weight. Introduced in 1971, it offered significantly better range and payload capability, making it the backbone of long-haul international aviation throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The 747-200 included passenger (-200B), freighter (-200F), convertible (-200C), and combi (-200M) variants. With 393 aircraft produced, it was the most successful early 747 variant and established the type as the dominant long-range airliner for two decades.
