About

The Avro RJ85 is the updated mid-size variant based on the BAe 146-200, representing the most popular aircraft in the Avro RJ series. Introduced in 1993, it features a fully digital flight deck with EFIS displays, advanced avionics, and improved Honeywell LF 507 turbofans that offer better fuel efficiency and reduced maintenance costs. Seating 85-112 passengers, the RJ85 retained the BAe 146's renowned quiet operation and excellent short-field performance while delivering improved dispatch reliability and lower operating costs. The aircraft found widespread success with airlines worldwide, particularly those serving airports with noise restrictions or challenging approaches. With 87 units built, it became the backbone of many regional carrier fleets.
