Antonov An-74

Antonov

About

The Arctic development of the An-72, with the same engines mounted above and ahead of the wing so that their exhaust blows over it and adds lift — the Coandă arrangement that lets a jet work from short, unpaved, snow and ice runways. Interstate Aviation Committee type certificate 13-74 gives a maximum take-off mass of 34,800 kg, a maximum ramp mass of 35,150 kg and a maximum payload of 7,500 kg, with two landing masses rather than one: 33,000 kg onto a paved or ice runway and 30,000 kg onto snow or unprepared ground. It is certificated to 10,100 m at a maximum operating Mach of 0.65, and it is flown by four — captain, first officer, navigator and flight engineer — for no more than ten passengers.
