Antonov An-72-100

About

The civil conversion of the military An-72, certificated by the Interstate Aviation Committee as type 116-72-100 after the equipment and system modes that made it a military transport were removed — the data sheet says in as many words that their removal is what makes the aircraft unusable for military purposes. Its certificated masses are a maximum take-off mass of 34,800 kg, a maximum ramp mass of 35,150 kg and a maximum landing mass of 33,000 kg, the same three figures as the An-74, because the conversion was explicitly aimed at bringing the design into line with the certificated An-74T-200A. Two D-36 turbofans give 6,580 kgf of take-off thrust each, or 64.5 kN, and the tanks hold 15,965 litres. It may not carry passengers at all: the certificate limits the aircraft to three people on board — captain, first officer and flight engineer — and prohibits carrying any others. The maximum operating Mach number is 0.65.
