About

The An-124 Ruslan is the largest series-built freighter ever flown, and for forty years the only way to move a generator, a locomotive or another aeroplane's fuselage by air. Its nose and tail both open, and its undercarriage kneels to put the floor at truck height. The cruise speed, cruise Mach, range, climb rate, wingspan, length, height and take-off distance are EUROCONTROL's figures for the A124 type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants. The weights, Mach limit, ceiling, crew and engine rating are certificated figures for the An-124-100 from the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee, type certificate data sheet № 24-124-100: maximum ramp 398,000 kg, take-off 392,000 kg, landing 345,000 kg, zero fuel 320,000 kg, payload 135,000 kg, MMO 0.77, maximum operating altitude 11,600 m, minimum flight crew six, and four Progress D-18T rated at 23,430 kgf (229.8 kN) for take-off. Passengers may not be carried, which is why the seat count is empty.
