About

The first production A300, and the aeroplane that proved a twin-engined widebody could work. The heaviest certified B2 is the B2-320 of January 1980, on JT9D-59A engines, and that is the standard this row carries. It is a three-crew aeroplane: two pilots and a flight engineer, or two pilots on the aircraft modified to the forward-facing cockpit. Airbus publishes no airport-planning document for the B2, so its 44.84 m span and 53.49 m length come from the FAA's Aircraft Characteristics Database instead — and its height and empty weight are still not filled rather than guessed, because that database measures height at operating empty weight, which is a different thing. Cruise speed, range, ceiling and climb rate are EUROCONTROL's figures for the A30B type code rather than a certificate's: a type certificate states limits and weights, not cruise performance, and the source does not distinguish sub-variants.
